The new(ish) year 2026

I need to get better at this - journaling is arguably a better use of time than doomscrolling after all.
We have survived 2025 if you are reading this.
2026 is going to be a hard year wherever you are. For those in the US, continue to fight against fascism - look for the helpers. For us in the UK we must also do so - Reform sees what is going on in the US and like Trumpers finds joy in the cruelty and violence. It is depressing how many people do until it happens to them that it.
That is not to say we are doomed. Our adversaries and bad actors want us to feel that way. What we need to do is remember we are far more alike than we are different and our differences are our strengths. We are far better when we help each other and collaborate.
We are never as powerless as we think. We write and communicate and our voices are resistance while silence is compliance and an accessory to violence.
Here's to the long haul that will be 2026.

Excellent plan. My go-to donations are dry beans, brown rice, and spice kits. But if I know there's a cluster of a given ethnicity near the food pantry, I'll take things from that pantry list, like the big cartons of dried cilantro or boxes of dry masa for Hispanic cuisine.
